Ready for some eye candy?

I have to tell you that I’m absolutely SMITTEN with these
Vintage Brooch Bridal Bouquets!
They are gorgeous.
I love the fact that they will last forever.
Yes, they are pricey, but I bet they would be pretty easy to figure out how to make.

M.L. from House  of Whimsy shared this gorgeous bridal bouquet last week at the Link Party.

I have been thinking about these amazing bouquets ever since.
I got busy searching today (between packing boxes) on Pinterest and Etsy.

I hadn’t planned on writing a post and sharing with all of you, but
I got so much enjoyment looking at all of the different, beautiful,
sparkly colors, I wanted to share.

You can click here to see a fairly easy tutorial
on how to make one.

I also found a great website with a great selection of brooches.
Fabulous Brooch

I’m adding this to my DIY list!

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to start collecting vintage brooches.
Now I just need to find a bride :-).

Don’t forget to click on the picture and go to the actual website before you Pin.

So, I’m curious… what do you think of the vintage brooch bridal bouquets?
Would you carry one instead of fresh flowers?

Why I Love London

If you are looking for Link Party #31

I’m fortunate enough to have a husband who has business in London every year.  I love London!  We have gone every year for 5 years now.  London has amazing sites to see and so much history.  The people are so friendly and very polite!  The museums are AMAZING and FREE!!!

A few other things I love about London….

–  Hearing children say, “Mummy” for Mommy in their English accent.

–  When you exit the tube a female voice says, “Mind the Gap”.  The gap is about a 6″ space between the train and the cement!  I don’t know how anyone could accidentally fall in the gap.

–  Visiting the food court at Harrods.  It is beautiful! I would show you pictures but you aren’t allowed to take them.  They have food sections from all over the world!  It is like art!

– If you go down the stairs you stay on the left and when you go up the stairs, you stay on the right.

I love the fact that when we go now, because we have seen all of the “tourist sites”, we get to enjoy just being “a part of London”.  Here are a few pics that I took while we were there (it was a rainy visit this time… but it didn’t stop us from walking the beautiful parks!)

On a sunny, warm day, this park would be full of people (pastie white) soaking up the sun!

You can see that Spring is in the air by the blooms on this tree.

Tulips blooming in Hyde Park.  Absolutely gorgeous.

Londoner’s going about their business…
See Big Ben?
Yes, the double-decker buses are everywhere.

The cutest little taxis.  Looks like a wedding taxi?
I didn’t quite understand that.

Our hotel.
Fly Union Jack, Fly!
The bar at the Dukes Hotel is known for their Martini Bar.
I swear it’s not why I picked this hotel… but their dirty martini’s are to DIE FOR.

See the pigeons on the fence?
1, 2, 3, 4…
Wonder what they were thinking?

Count down to the Olympics!

The largest “square” in London and considered the Heart of London.

A wedding going on at The Abbey.
Must of been a “someone” to be married at The Abbey!

My hubby and I in front of Harrods.  LOVE that place.
Why does he have his fingers in my arm pit?
(Ignore this part… now that I’ve pointed it out to you!!!!) ha! :-).

Hope you enjoyed a bit of London.

Link Party Drama

I ran across this post on Facebook this morning that gave me a “knee-jerk” reaction… and when I have that kind of reaction to something, I’ve learned by LOTS OF MISTAKES to sit on it and think about why I’m having that particular reaction before I react!  I know that totally makes sense to you :-).

Wanna know what the conversation was about?  Linking Parties.  Yup, that party I hold every week. The party I DO spend a lot of time on and that I began in hopes to benefit myself, my blog, my readers and my blogging friends.

I’ve pondered long and hard today over this subject.  Lately, I have been feeling like there needs to be something more to the party  (I mentioned this here). But, I don’t know what it would be…. so, I’ll keep pondering on this one…and YES, I’m open to suggestions!

After reading the FB post/conversation, I feel a need to share with my readers and blogging friends my thoughts and feelings on why I host and why I started to host a party…(Can I also add that I don’t like what a few of my favorite bloggers added to the conversation?  I really had absolutely no idea that they felt that way about link parties).

My first and foremost reason for hosting a party was because I wanted to get to know more bloggers.  Yes, I wanted to have more visitors.  I wanted to network and not just “know” bloggers because of their blog… I also wanted something to carry my blog when I was too busy to have a project going on.  I have bonded with some amazing women because of  my party.  Was it about making my blog big, fancy and well known? Absolutely not, I like to think I blog from my heart and not my pocketbook.  Hence, the reason why you will never see a bunch of posts on advertising or a lot of adds on my blog.

Hosting a link party enables people to share their projects in ONE SPOT.  I love to visit parties (even if I don’t link up).  Where else can you see 100’s of projects without having to click from site to site?  If the picture of the project doesn’t “grab” you, you can move on to the next project that was linked up.

Do I invite people to my party? YES, if I run across a project that I feel is absolutely AMAZING and I think my readers and bloggers would like to see it, I most definitely will invite that person to the party.  Why wouldn’t I?  Am I doing this to get more readers?  To have the BEST party?  To have more links? No, I invite the blogger to link up because I’m excited for everyone to see the fabulous project!

Want to know what I DON’T like about hosting a Link Party?

I have a hard time choosing what to highlight.  I try very hard not to highlight the same blogger every week.  I truly do want everyone to have a chance to be highlighted.   I agonize over what projects to choose… there are so many talented bloggers!  It’s probably why my highlight parties have gone from 6 highlights to 12!

Please know, that I appreciate every single blogger who takes the time to link their project.  I wish that I could email every single one of you and say, “Thank you!”  As it is, I spend 2 hours on Sunday evening going through all of the projects and another 2 hours on Monday to write my post.  I also like to comment on each and every project that I highlight.

Lately, I have been feeling like the party is getting redundant on my part.  I feel like I say the same thing weekly…. “Welcome to Project Queen’s….”  are you feeling it or is it just me?

I know that God has been feeling my “uneasiness” with hosting a party every week.  His timing is always perfect.  Why would I have come across the FB conversation this morning?  Yup, it got me thinking.  So, for the next few days I’m going to pray and ask God for His guidance on continuing to host a party.  I really do want to make sure that I’m hosting a party for the right reasons.

Digital Collage Tutorial

No pitty party goin’ on here today!  LOOK WHAT I MADE!!!

Don’t believe me?  Well I’m going to show you how.  This is soooo simple.  If I can do it, YOU can do it and some of you out there will be able to do AMAZING things…. I’m not going to think about that because I’m tootin’ my own horn right now!!! ha!

As you all know, our beloved Picnik is being pulled right out from under us bloggers…. I grumbled for a few days and then MOVED ON… okay, I’m still grumbling a little bit.  I have found that Phixr, Ipiccy and Befunky are as easy to work with as Picnik.  Hooray!  BUT, the problem is trying to find one that is easy to make a collage with.

Phixr does have the ability to make a collage, but I couldn’t figure it out for the life of me.  If anyone can do it, my hat’s off to you and please share with us!

Ipiccy as of today does not offer the tools to make a collage.

Befunky does offer the tools to make a collage but only on Facebook.  What is with that??? If they can offer it on FB, why can’t they offer it on their website?  I’m sorry, but it must be a MAN over there making up all those codes (or whatever they do).  Geez, and I like men, but I don’t like him!!! I thought that was going to be the answer to Picnik… Befunky!  It’s got some great tools.

Let me introduce you to SHAPE COLLAGE.  It is soooo easy to work with.  You can make your pics into several different shapes (or make your own) and it even gives you the choice to make your collage into a letter.  It’s pretty cool!

Made by Shape Collage (not me) 🙂

1.  Download Shape Collage.  I saved it to my Desktop.

2.  This window will come up.  Click on the (+) in the bottom left hand corner.  Sorry I didn’t know how to draw a line.

3.  I saved all of my valentine’s photos in my documents file.  You can click one at a time OR you can highlight the files that you would like to upload to your collage.  The screen below shows you how I highlighted my saved pictures.

I had already saved them as a JPEG and edited them in Phixr.  When I saved them, I started all of the file names with V so it was very simple to highlight all of them in Shape Collage and load them all up at once! (I didn’t even plan that part).

5.  Once they load into Shape Collage it will look like the above screen.  All of your pictures will be there and it tells you how many pictures you uploaded (mine was 9 photos).  It’s on the bottom left side – right next to “Clear List”.

6.  Now you need to decide what shape you would like to have your collage in.  Your choices are on the above screen, right side on the top.

7.  Click on PREVIEW (which is in the middle of the above screen on the bottom).  This enables you to see your pictures in the shape that you selected.  There are more selections on the above right hand screen.  I did a little bit of photo spacing, but didn’t use any of the other selections.

8.  When you are satisfied with the way your pictures are layed out, click on CREATE (middle of screen on the bottom) and your pictures magically appear in the collage that you had layed out!

That’s it!  Next you name it and upload it onto your hard drive.

I had so much fun using all of the valentine’s projects that people shared at my linky party this week!  Wish I could have made it bigger!!

Oh, I should say that I loaded the jpeg collage image into Phixr and put a frame on it.

I should mentioned that this is a FREE program.  There are some definite perks by paying the $40 – like not having their watermark on your collage!!!! There are a few more also – go check it out, make a collage and tell me what you think!

I would love to see everyone’s collages, so please share!

Do I Have A Choice?

(If you are looking for #20 Link Up Party click HERE)

Oh, Poop.  I’ve been in denial all week about Google Friend Connect going away….I JUST got over the fact that Picnik will no longer be around…. can I just admit what is really bothering me? I HAVE TO LEARN YET ANOTHER TECHY THING!!! Ugh.  I’m feeling pretty S-T-U-P-I-D these days.  I still have not learned the navigation system on my new car (yes, it’s a luxury problem but it’s a PROBLEM…trust me), I’m scared of my Cameo Silhouette, and I can’t figure out how to make a freakin’ printable that everyone seems to just “whip up” in no time.

So, today I put my “big girl panties on” and jumped on the wagon with the NEW LINKY FOLLOWER which is replacing Google Friend Connect (so thankful there is something FREE that will replace it).  Yup, did it all by myself and got that new widget code thing and put it in the right-hand column (see it? the one that says I only have 6 friends?).  It’s right above the one with all the awesome faces that says I have 297 friends!!!!  I’ve worked soooo hard for all your sweet faces and now I have to start all over again.  Yes, I’m feeling sorry for myself.

If you want the How’s, When’s and Why’s of Linky Follower, head over to  At The Picket Fence.  Vanessa and Heather  have put together a great post that will fill you in on all the Pro’s and Con’s of Linky Follower, how to join, how to put it on your blog, and a tutorial on how to use it!  Thank you Picket Fence Ladies!

So with all of that being said, I’m hoping that you will follow me through Linky Followers.  I want to see all of your 297 sweet faces again :-).  If you are a reader (and not a Blogger) you can still follow me by Facebook, Pinterest, RSS Feed, or you can sign up by email (which is right above the new Linky Follower box).  My new posts will be delivered right into your email!  Simple as that.

Oh, and by the way… I’ve found that PHIXR is very much like Picnik.  Not quite the same…but not a huge learning curve.  Makes me a happy camper.

And lastly, did you hear about the latest and greatest Party Hop that is being hosted by It’s So Very Cheri for Linky Followers?

Head on over to her blog where she has all the details and you can join the hop too!!!!

If you choose to follow me, please leave me a comment so I can be sure to follow you back!!!

Beautiful Woman’s Version of 1 Corinthians 13:1-8

I downloaded an ebook called Beauty and the Beast Within written by Denise Grove.  The ebook sells for $5.  Denise’s description of the book is simple, “Think Marilyn Monroe meets Mother Theresa.”  The journey is not about achieving perfection but finding peace.

“The Beautiful Woman’s Version of 1 Corinthians 13:1-8

Written By: Denise Grove

And now I will show you the most excellent way,

If I speak of calorie content and fat grams, but do not have love,
I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

If I have the gift of eating carrots instead of cake and can fathom all diet and exercise mantras,
and if I have enough muscle mass that can move mountains,
but do not have love, I am nothing.

If I give all my snacks to the poor and give over my body to the elliptical that I may boast,
but do not have love, I gain nothing (ain’t that the truth).

Love is patient, love is kind.  It doesn’t have perfectly manicured nails, it does not wear concealer, it is not a size 0.
It does not deprive itself, it is not self-destructive,
it is not easily angered when its roots show,
it keeps no record of food intake.

Love does not delight in Botox but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

But where there are skinny jeans, they will cease;
where there are spinning classes, they will be stilled;
where there is deprivation, it will pass away
(and so might you)…

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.

But the greatest of these is love.

I pray you have a wonderful week!

I’ll have Link Party Highlights up tomorrow (Monday night).

See you then!

A Sad Day To Celebrate

My heart aches for a special woman, my mother-in-law, who treated me like I was her own daughter.   My heart aches for my children who called her Muvie, who baked their favorite chocolate chip cookies, sewed their clothes and loved reading them books when they were children.   My heart aches for my husband who will miss his mother terribly.  She believed in her son and was so proud of what he had accomplished in life.

Constance Read Walter was truly an amazing woman.  A woman who was raised in a very wealthy family.  Who spent her summer’s in Capitola and San Francisco at the Sir Frances Drake Hotel.  A woman who graduated from UC Berkeley.  A woman who married an uneducated farmer’s son against the wishes of her father.  A woman who married for love and not for the acceptance of her family.  A woman who raised 6 children and was a grade school teacher.  A woman who loved her children, encouraged them to be whoever they wanted to be.  She was a woman who never judged and never had a bad thing to say about another human being. A woman with a sense of humor, a woman with the patience of a saint. A woman with wonderful stories and a song or poem always ready to be sung or told.  A woman with a love for animals.  A woman of faith.

Life will go on for us Muvie.  You’re laughter, smile and keds that matched every outfit will be missed.  Our life will never be the same and yet we will go on with re-telling your stories, singing your songs and remembering your smile.  We love you Muvie and know that you are dancing in heaven with the love of your life who has patiently been waiting for you.

Rest in peace Muvie.

I Hit the Jackpot!!!!

Last Friday, I went with some friends to one of the indian casino’s that is about a 30 minute drive from our house.  We go about once a month, have dinner, a few drinks and then play the slots for a few hours and head home.  Sometimes, I come home ahead with some extra $ in my pocket, but MOST times I come home with LESS $ in my pocket.

Guess what friends? This week, I came home with a whole lotta $ in my pocket!!! In fact, I won a jackpot of $1,600.00!!!!!!! Unbelievable.  I about had a heart attack.  I got 8 Quick Hits!

I don’t think it really hit me how much $ that was until the next morning when I was lying in bed… and started thinking about what I’d like to buy…hmmm….. I could buy new nightstands, a new dresser….I got out of bed, grabbed my coffee, sat in front of my computer and promptly purchased a…

Cameo Silhouette!!!!!

Woot! Woot!

Next, I purchased…

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10

I splurged and had everything shipped quickly.

I cannot wait to play with all of my new toys!!!

The last thing I want to purchase is a new hard drive to back up all of my computer stuff (I have a Mac).

Any suggestions????

Are You A Roller Coaster Gal?

Want to join me and be a Roller Coaster Gal?

My BFF text messaged me this picture today.  Her timing was perfect. I want to be a Roller Coaster Gal.  I really, really do!  I want to feel light hearted and free.  I want to laugh at the mistakes that I have made, shrug my shoulders at the goals I didn’t achieve, and look forward to the future and what it holds for me.

So many ups and downs in life.  So many choices to make.  So many commitments to make.  So many prayers to pray.  So many dreams to dreams.  So many goals to accomplish…. one day at a time.

I’d rather ride the roller coaster than the merry-go-round in life.  It would get pretty boring on a merry-go-round.  No ups and downs, no highs and lows.  How could I enjoy the high’s if I  didn’t have any lows?

How about you?

Wanna join me and be a Roller Coaster Gal in 2012?

Are You Pondering?

I find that the days between Christmas and New Years are days that I always think DEEP.  I ponder about the ups and downs of the past year and I think about the “clean slate” I have in the upcoming year.  What things would I change in the past year if I could? What did I learn?  Did I achieve the goals that I wanted to achieve?

I think about the New Year ahead of me…. It’s going to be an exciting and busy year with travel plans on the horizon…. Long Beach, Whistler, London, Paris, Spain, my last child heading off to college and I’ll be turning 49 (thank goodness it’s not 50).  I have a big year ahead of me! What do I want to accomplish this year?  Soooo many things!  I’m working on a list and I will share it with you soon.

Here are some quotes that I came across that made me think…and I read them twice…. and I might just keep a few.

Did you find one that you read twice and want to keep in front of you for the New Year?
