My Halloween Mantle

Happy Friday! This feels like it has been the loooongest week!  I have a busy but fun weekend planned – baby shower and a craft night.  We are going to be making the yarn fall wreath with the felt flowers.  Should be a fun evening!

I’m going to try VERY HARD not to go by the thrift stores today….ugh.  BUT Fridays seem to be the BEST days!!! Pray for me! :-)

My Halloween mantle is finally done! When the kids were little, I decorated more for Halloween.  I decided this year to just decorate the mantle in our family room.  I’m very proud of myself…I spent a total of $12 this year on my Halloween decorations!

I’m keeping it simple this year….there is a black raven sitting on the Cinderella Pumpkin but you can’t see him!

I glued my “Happy Halloween” blocks to a wicker tray (sprayed black) that I found for $1.75 at the thrift store and added a black and white checked ribbon.

I love my witch.  I bought her a few years ago.  When you wind her up she  plays the song from The Wizard of Oz…”The Wicked Witch is Dead”.  I added the orange spider to her dress.

Here’s my black cat that a friend gave to me.  I added a bow and a spider.  I love it!

I purchased this 3 tiered plate from a thrift store  for $2.75.  The plates were white and the metal part in between the plates is actually plastic.  It was gold and all scratched up.  I took it all apart and and spray painted it.  I love how it turned out.

I keep picturing the old fashioned black licorice spirals on it.  I need to go buy some…or cupcakes would be cute too.

Yesterday I made this fun Halloween Banner.   So simple – felt, wooden letters (paper decopaged on it) and 2 different styles of ribbon – one for trim and one to hang it with.

So that’s it!  FINALLY decorated for Halloween.

We had a storm roll in a few days ago…rain and temperatures dropped down into the 60’s.  I woke up this morning and it was foggy!  It is starting to feel like fall around here and the trees are starting to turn colors.  I’ve had a tough time getting in the mood to decorate around here with it being in the 90’s!

I will be posting highlights from #3 Link Party on Sunday night.  #4 Link Party will go live on Sunday evening, instead of Tuesday because of scheduling conflicts.  I’ll send out a reminder.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  32. Your ideas are so cute! I would love to make the 3 tiered plates also. I am having trouble researching a food safe spray paint. Did you check into this? I think that the Krylon H2O looks like it would be a good one but was hoping you had listed what kind you used on your site. Please respond here if you have found a good food safe spray paint so that we can all have that info. I also love the orange candle stick. Thanks for sharing. You are inspiring

    • Hi Wendy,
Thanks so much for leaving a comment! LOVE COMMENTS!!!

I did not use a food safe paint. At the time I painted the 3 tiered dish, honestly it didn’t even enter my head! I think I had only the idea of wrapped candy on the dish… didn’t even think about food actually touching the paint. Thank you for bring this up. In the future I will definitely keep a food safe paint in mind.
