Emergency Contact Phone Numbers and A Free Printable

We recently had to change our emergency numbers due to the move.

The boys were having a hard time memorizing our new numbers
(home and cell phone numbers) and their address.

I decided I better be prepared.
You never know what can happen
(especially with four boys and an accident prone mommy) :-).
I even taught my four year old how to call for help!

As I went to hang up my sticky note with the numbers on the fridge,
I realized I needed something a little more permanent and cuter.

After searching a bit, I found this amazing digital scrapbook kit from
A-Manda Creation.
You must check out her store,
she has adorable stuff and so reasonable!!!

I made up an “Emergency Contact Form” with her graphics.
It came out pretty cute
(better than the sticky note for sure)!

Amanda was kind enough to allow me
to post it on the blog and share it with all of you.
Thank you Amanda!

dull-something-or-other into a stunning piece of art!

I’m sure you will be ready to purchase your own contact paper and turn your dull-something-or-other into something fabulous!

Be sure to check out the websites at the bottom of this post to see where you can purchase your not so ordinary contact paper.

Quick Cookie Bars

I love to bake and chocolate chip cookies are the boy’s favorite.

Lately, I feel like I have had no extra time to do ANY baking and when I do, I’m interrupted constantly and for some reason, they just don’t come out as well as they should.  You think it has to do with having 4 active boys around?  I needed to figure out a chocolate chip cookie in a bar.  A recipe I could just quickly mix up and throw in a pan.

During the past few weeks, I have tried two different cookie bar recipes.  They were either really greasy on the bottom or very dry and the kids didn’t like them.  Today I decided to make my own up and they turned out pretty good!  I was shocked! Ha!

Quick Cookies Bars

Step 1:
Dump all of the following ingredients into a bowl and mix it all up.

I told you I wanted easy :-)!

½ cup brown sugar
½ cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1/3 cup melted butter
2 eggs
1 ½ tsp vanilla

Step 2:
Mix in the following:

1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
¾ cup chopped pecans

Step 3:
Place it all in an 8×8 pan sprayed with non-stick spray.

Bake for 25-30 min at 350 degrees.
Let it cool and cut them into bars and your done!

These are so easy!!!

If you have any quick one pan cookie bars that you make, I’d love to hear about them.

Have a great week and thanks Mandy for having me!!!

Glazed Box Beamed Ceiling

My husband has a habit (he calls it a hobby) of purchasing homes downtown and restoring them.

The latest purchase had a beautiful box beam ceiling.  Someone had actually painted it a bright green!  Ugh.  (Sorry, no picture of it.)

Once it was painted white, the beams were lost in the white ceiling.  They looked terrible.  Nothing is worse than seeing layers of paint that has been added over the years.  In order to get rid of all those layers of paint, the beams would have required alot  of labor.  Instead, we decided to add some glaze to them.

Here they are finished.

The boring, white ceiling.

I applied a rich, brown glaze with a brush, being sure to get it into all the grooves and cracks.
I had to do a few back-bends in the process :-).

After brushing on the glaze, I took a rag (I use old t-shirts) and wiped some of the glaze off.

Here I am having a blast… it was so hot!

 Aged and chipped!

I love the results!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

A New Year’s Plan

Happy New Year to each and every one of you.

I pray that you are blessed with a healthy, prosperous, content and thankful New Year!

A New Year’s Plan

I tried to think of a clever new phrase—
A slogan to inspire the next 365 days,
A motto to live by this coming new year,
But the catchy words fell flat to my ear.
And then I heard His still small voice
Saying, “Consider this simple, daily choice:
With each new dawn and close of day
Make new your resolve to trust and obey.”

“Don’t look back caught in regret
Or dwell on the sorrow of dreams unmet;
Don’t stare forward anchored by fear,
No, live in this moment, for I am here.”

“I am all you need. Everything. I Am.
You are held secure by my strong hand.
Give me this one thing—your all in all;
Into my grace, let yourself fall.”

So, at last I’m ready; I see the way.
It’s to daily follow, trust, and obey.
I enter the new year armed with a plan,
To give him my everything. All that I am.
