Link Party Highlights #42 – “Turning the Daunting Into the Do-able”

I’ve been trying my hardest to catch a cold the last few days, so I apologize to everyone who thought the party highlights were going to be posted last night.

Karen from Redoux Interiors painted a leather chair with CeCe Caldwell’s paints.  Love how these chairs turned out.

Look out Annie Sloan – you have some competition!

Theresa from Junk2Jewels-DIY! shared her Coffee Table Re-Vamp.

Theresa has a great tutorial (along with what worked and what didn’t).
Be sure you check it out!

Micki from Confessions of an ADD Housewife showed us how to whip up some yummy Pumpkin Caramels.

The recipe is easy and these look delicious!

Kelli from Bella’s Crafty Mom made this adorable Key Holder from a spoon holder (how clever is that?)

I see these all the time at thrift stores.
Now I know what to do with them!

Julie from Knot All That I Seam re-did her Spindle Chaired Kitchen Table.

Love the cutlery she chose for the top.
Great job!

Hope you enjoyed these as much as I did.

If you were featured, please grab a “featured button” (right hand column) and
pin somewhere on your blog so more can join the party.

Thanks everyone who linked up your recipe or project!

Pink Pumpkins For the Cure

I’m re-posting my pink pumpkins that I made last year.  They ended up being my most popular post!  Hope you enjoy.

Did you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month?

I can say (pretty much without a doubt) that everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer or has battled this beast themselves. I lost my grandmother 19 years ago to breast cancer. I often wonder if she would have lived longer (and more comfortably) if we had the technology that we have today.

I believe  every woman in this nation wonders if they will be the “1 out of 8” diagnosed with breast cancer.  I had a scare myself 6 years ago.  I’ve always been very diligent about doing my self exam…one morning I found a little tiny lump.  Talk about freaked out.  I was lucky I was able to get into an oncologist very quickly (my husband was able to make a few calls).  After a thorough examination, the doctor felt that it was a benign cyst.  Sure enough, within a few months it was gone.

Reflecting on the moment that I felt that cyst…from the time I shut off the water in the shower to finishing drying off,  I felt my life had changed completely.  In a matter of moments, I thought of my children, chemo therapy, etc., etc., I was the “1 out of the 8”.

If you are a breast cancer survivor, my heart goes out to you.  You live a sweet life every day and I bet you do not take one thing for granted.  You are blessed…. I pray that the rest of us (the 7 out of the 8) can value life as much as I know that you value you yours…I pray that we take nothing for granted, live in the moment, and realize that life is a journey and we must savor the sweet moments along the way.

So, guess what?  Did you know that PINK is the new orange this month? Yup, it is! How fun is that? You know what that means? Yup…PINK PUMPKINS!

Here are mine:

These were sooooo much fun to make!

Blog friends, I challenge each and everyone of you to make a pink pumpkin this year!

Materials I used for pumpkins:
Martha Stewart Craft Paint (Pink Taffeta Pearl and Amaranth Satin)
Ribbon
Straight Pins
Breast Cancer Ribbon Stickers (I found them at Michael’s) and I painted them a darker pink
Glitter
Glue

Link Party Highlights #41 – “Turning the Daunting Into the Do-able”

I hope that everyone is having a fabulous week!

My BFF and I participated in a street fair yesterday.  We sold all of our chalkboards, except two.  Cleaned us out.  Everyone was so excited when they saw our booth.  It felt so good and all of our hard work paid off.  Now to clean up all of the mess from the sanding and painting.  Ugh.  I’ll do it tomorrow.  A little bit of procrastination never hurts anyone :-).

Today has been a fabulous day.  Bible study, rain, nap and it looks like the Giants are going to the  World Serious!  Yea baby!  A VERY GOOD DAY INDEED.

I have some great highlights from last week’s party.  They are sure to peak your interest and inspire some creativity.

Let’s start off with a great Halloween Centerpiece that Kim from Made In a Day created.

This is a Joann’s Fabric Signature Craft Project.
Visit her blog where you can download the PDF and print off a 50% off coupon!

This link up from Micki at ADD Housewife definitely peaked my interest – Salted Pumpkin Chocolate Seeds!

I love pumpkin seeds.  But chocolate?
I definitely am going to give this recipe a try.

Lauren from Punky Little DIYer shared her adorable Striped Glitter Sneakers.

My daughter’s would have been all over these when they were younger.
Lauren has a very easy to follow tutorial.
Give her a big shout out! She is a new fellow blogger.

Winnie from Winnish whipped up these pretty Homemade Peanut Butter Cups.

They look delicious!
Winnie used sesame butter instead of peanut butter in these.
I’d like to give them a try.  The only time I’ve had sesame butter is with apples and I loved it.

Karen from Karen’s Fabric Obsession made this pretty Christmas Quilt.

Love the hand appliqued picture in the middle.
Karen has an adorable blog and sells some amazing fabric.

Terry from Forever Decorating! created this Mackenzie-Childs Knock Off Sconce.

I’m a sucker for anything Mackenzie-Childs!
I need to learn to paint like Terry :).

Little Sis from My Sister’s Pantry whipped up a healthy vegan recipe – Soft Sweet Dumpling Squash.

I’ve never tried a sweet dumpling squash.
Have you?
Hope I can find one at the grocery store – looks delicious!

Thank you everyone for sharing your projects.

I’d love it if you grabbed a “feature button” (in the right hand column) and posted it somewhere on your blog so everyone can join the party.

Quick and Easy DIY Photo Blocks – “Thursdays With Tracie”

We recently took the boys to a  pumpkin farm and I got so many great pictures that I wanted to display them all.

The problem?

I didn’t want to put 10 picture frames on my mantle.

My solution?

A picture block!

First, I had my husband cut out some 4 x 4 blocks.

Next, I cut all my photos out to fit the sides of the block.

I applied a layer of Mod Podge to the block ( I know the picture shows glossy but trust me, use MATTE Mod Podge… I will explain why later).

Mod Podge a picture to each side of your block.

Let the block dry for an hour or two and then apply a layer of Matte Mod Podge to the block.  As I said before, use MATTE Mod Podge.  I originally used glossy and when I applied it to the block (over the picture) the brushstrokes were very visible.   I went back over it with the Matte Mod Podge, which I applied with a wide sponge brush and the finish was so much better. So Matte Modge Podge and sponge brush works great!

These were so quick and easy to make.

Thanks Mandy for having me.

Happy Fall everyone!!

Maiden D'Shademop it up mondays

Link Party Highlights #40 – “Turning the Daunting Into the Do-able”

 Happy Fall Ya’ll!!!!

Finally, FEELS like fall is in the air.
Yahoo!

Hubby got the Halloween and Fall decorations down from the attic last night.  I had really wanted to have my decorations up by October 1st, but it just didn’t happen.

My BFF and I helped a friend decorate for her son’s wedding reception last weekend.  It turned out beautiful! (If I do say so myself).  I will post pictures soon.

We had some great link ups this week… here are a few:

Paula from Creating In Glass Slippers showed us how she made her eerie Skeleton Poison Bottle.

Pretty Spooky!
Paula has an easy tutorial to follow.

Jan from the Tip Garden shared a recipe for Pink-Strawberry Hot Cocoa Mix.

My girls would have thought this was the BEST.
Pink Hot Chocolate! Does it get any better than that???

Jan will be posting a Thrifty Holiday Gift every week on her blog.
Be sure to visit Tip Garden and see what she is sharing!

Lauren from The Thinking Closet shared a pattern for these adorable Bird Pincushion/Needle Keepers.

They turned out pretty cute!

Catherine from Freddy and Petunia showed off her amazing flea market find and how she magically fixed the damaged mirror.

Gorgeous!

Kathy from The Chicken Chick linked up a yummy recipe for Chicken Piccata.

I have never met a Chicken Piccata I didn’t like.
Another MUST try on my list.

Thank you everyone for linking up your fabulous projects and recipes.

I’d love it if you grabbed a “feature” button (right hand column)
and posted it on your blog so everyone can come to the party :-).

Link Party Highlights #39 – “Turning the Daunting Into the Do-Able”

Hello everyone!  I apologize for the Highlight Party being so late this evening!  I had a bit of a problem with WordPress… long story.  I’ve never had any problems until this evening… who knows, it was probably just me hitting the wrong button (imagine that)… I’m definitely not tech savvy and if it weren’t for my most favorite graphic designer, Char, from Delight Designs there would be no Project Queen!  She has shown me how to maneuver my way around and look like I know what I’m doing.  Ha!  She is always there when I need her!!! Thank you Char!

I wanted to share with you, that there are several ways to follow Project Queen.  I feel the best way (personally this is how I follow my favorite blogs)  is to sign up by email.  If you fill in your email (in the right hand column) you will only receive an email when I post something.  This way, you don’t have to constantly be checking to see if there is something new.  Just sign up to have Feed Burner send the new post to your in box.  Easy as that!  So with that, let’s get on with the highlights from Link Party #39.

Stephanie, aka Lady With the Red Rocker shows us her adorable Owl Cookies that she made for her sister’s baby shower.

Stephanie has an easy tutorial to follow along with the recipe.
She says they are delicious too!

Karin from Art Is Beauty shows us her Humpty Dumpty Rescue Desk.

Humpty Dumpty is right!
Head over to her blog so you can see what this sweet desk and chair
looked like before Karin did her magic.  In pieces!

Fifi from About Blogging Time did a great job on her Halloween Yarn Wreath.

I love making yarn wreaths.

Kelli from Seriously…I Think It Needs Stitches introduced us to Reubenita, The Fashionista Donkey.

Reubenita is adorable! I love her hair.

Lori from The Stonybrook House made a Sunburst Orange Ombre Pallet Sign for her new office.

Such a happy and colorful sign.
I would love to look at this every day.
Wouldn’t you?

Kirstin from Craftiments shared her Dictionary Page Wreath.

The flowers are fabulous!!!!

If you were featured, please grab a “featured button” (right hand column) and place it
on your blog so more can join the party.

Thank you to every single blogger who shared at the party last week!
I pray all of you have a wonderful week.
